ok so you get 22 chromosones from your dad and 22 chromosones from your mom

and your xxy chromosne

now you have your OWN DNA.

ok i get this but if you have 50% from your mom and 50% from your dad how can you look more like your dad then your mom?

Also i look chineese and have chinese type hair and a chineese nose[wide] my chineese ancestor was my great great grandpa, but if you get so little from your grandparents alone then how come i got so much genes from my great great grandparent.

my dad looks nothing chineese and my his mom looks a little chineese.

Im 3rd generation german, 3rd generation chineese, 3rd generation french and 2nd spain.

i have brown/black hair im 4ft 11 and im 13

im light brown{was pale white when i was born}

i just want to know why i got so much genes from my dad side?? enough that people actually think im somewere from asia its either they think im white, asian or spanish is the first things they ask me and its annoying.

Basically, your dad has genes from each grandparent. So does your mom. Then your grandparents have genes from their parents, and so on. It's true that you get 50% of the genes from your mom and 50% from your dad. What's not true is that they show 50/50. This is how genes work. Whatever the Dominant allele is, it will show. For example, blue eyes and brown eyes. Brown eyes would be the dominant gene, while blue eyes would be the recessive gene. Therefore, if your dad has blue eyes, and your mom has brown eyes, YOU will have brown eyes. This is because the gene for brown eyes is dominant. Genes for darker coloured hair/eyes/hair is dominant, while lighter colours are almost all the time recessive. Sometimes you may end up having an equal mix in a feature for a certain type of gene. So, your dad probably has your great grandparents genes somewhere, and it was passed on to you, so you'd look Chinese... because it would be the dominant gene.

You are describing your phenotype. You may loook more like you father, but there is more to DNA than phenotype. DNA also codes for how things function in your body.

I would add to the previous answer that the gametes that form in your dad and your mom have differently recombined genes than their body cells. In other words what you see is not what you get.

The previous question mentioned recessive genes. The reason why this is improtant is that your grandmother can have a recessive allele (a particular copy of a certain gene) for chinese traits and your grandfather can have the other copy. the trait will only show up if both copies come together. for the two copies ending up in one person it is random. they can be carried through several generations without showing up and then BOOOM - thats you
