Highlighting dark hair with Kool-Aid?

I have Asian black hair. My mom doesn't want me using those store brand dying kits because she says it's bad for your kidney?

And since Kool-Aid is edible, it's less harming?

I heard that it won't show up well on dark hair, and I'll need to bleach it. Is there any alternative for lightening hair?

I'm going to use red Kool-Aid, since I heard it works the best and I like red anyways.

If your hair is any darker than a light brown color it won't pick up any kind of semi-permanent dye. Kool-Aid is probably only temporary dye at best... it just stains your hair a bit. It most likely won't do anything to your hair because your hair is too dark. Only a strong, permanent dye can process black hair.

Think of it like this... if you have a white or pale cloth you can soak it in a dye and it will pick up the color. If you have a medium color it might take some but not most. If you have a black piece of cloth and you try to dye it you'll need to bleach it first.

Permanent dyes already have bleach in them.. I would recommend going to a hair stylist. Black hair is hard to dye.

just use Jerome Russell's Highlighting spray,it's temporary and it washes off..Kool-aid is bad for ur hair

You can use 1lime w/1/2 water to naturally high light your hair. It takes a couple of times before you see results. It will look great. Use it replacing hair spray and under the sun. Good luck! :)
