As I said in my other question, my sister is cutting herself because she said that she doesn't have a boyfriend. She is so insecure about being an asian. (She's adopted.) She has only told me and doesn't want me to tell anyone. She insisted that I posted this question, "Is she ugly?" She has black hair, 4'10, 92 pounds, mild acne, and braces. I think she looks stunning. I think she looks more gorgeous and beautiful than hot. What would you think of someone who looks like that? She wanted me to put up a picture, but she's only 11 and there are some freaks out there.

The fact she is cutting herself is a desperate cry for help. She is overwhelmed by her feelings and the only way to lessen her inner hurt is to cut herself outwardly;saying it hurts less than the pain inside. Talk to her about talking things through with someone who could help her deal with her feelings. cutting is a nice way of saying she is mutilating herself. Lets talk about the elephant in the room. These scars will be permanent reminders for her. Another permanent solution (like suicide) to a temporary problem...I'm glad to know she is talking to you. It means she wants to feel differently about things and she wants help. to the other poster this is NOT normal 11 yr.old behavior! Keep reaching out to her. It makes a world of difference.

I think that she is an average 11 year old girl and if not average she is beautiful....why is she so worried about having a boyfriend..she's only 11. I'm 14 and I dont have a boyfriend and I didnt have a relationship until I was 13. tell her that its just fine, she's beautiful, and all girls go through this. (I used to cut too)

People cut themselves to take away from the emotional pain going on and to focus themselves on the physical pain. Tell her you don't need to have a boyfriend to be happy. At 11?! Hopefully this is a stage she will soon grow out of. Anyway most kids make fun of other kids because they are insecure about themselves and taking it out on other people. She sounds really pretty to me. She's just going through an awkward stage. This is how every teen/pre-teen girl is. Explain to her that it's normal for her to think she is ugly and that she shouldn't cut herself because of it. I'll bet half the girls at her school don't have boyfriends. Explain to her that you always thought you were ugly {if you didn't think this then obviously don't tell her that.} She's in middle school {probably 6th grade, right?} She has the whole rest of her life to worry about boys and getting a boyfriend..
I'm 14 and I used to cut myself for reasons I don't even understand. I used to scratch my wrists, arms, hands, finger, legs, anything really. It would just make me feel better. Well, my parents found about what I was doing and they were upset. I got into a huge fight with them about it. I got really mad and my mom brought me to the doctor. The doctor suggested that I go to a therapist and everything. I go to one now and she really helps. I have cut myself once since my parents found out, which was over 2 months ago. It was a minor cut and I don't even know why I did it. I completely regret it. Well, anyways, you definitely need to tell your parents. Even if she doesn't want them to know you NEED to tell them. They should know what she's doing so she can get help as soon as possible. If she doesn't step up and tell her parents herself, you as her older sister {I'm assuming} need to tell them. She is affecting her health greatly. If she continues to cut herself she can end up cutting too deep or in the wrong stop and cut a vein and lose too much blood. If she loses too much blood she could die. I don't think you want your sister to die. I know I wouldn't want my 2 sisters to die. Explain to your parents that your sister needs help. They can take her to a therapist weekly. Trust me, a therapist helps a lot. They can also help your sister not be sad about not having a boyfriend and convince her that she is beautiful. Just please, have her talk to someone. Also, cutting is a cry for help. Sometimes cutting can lead to suicide. Don't let your sister do this. It's one of the worst ways to die, in my opinion.

I know you she doesn't want you to tell, but you need to. Cutting is a serious issue, and I think it's really sad that she's doing it just because she doesn't have a boyfriend. Heck, when I was eleven I still thought boys had cooties and wanted nothing to do with them! Explain to her that boys will come and go, and that it's not all that important to have a boyfriend (especially at age 11).
I'm sure your sister is beautiful. Everyone is in there own little way. Help her to see that beauty comes from the inside, not the outside.

Well, I'm 12 and I cut too. It's just really hard sometimes to grow up because of this or that. Does she have an email? I think she and I would make great friends because I'm asian too. Before I was all sad because I didn't have a boyfriend, but then my friend told me something and suddenly I just no longer cared about getting a boyfriend. Give me her email and I'll talk to her.

she's an average eleve year old girl. and cutting herself isn't going to help her in any way. cutting became popular because it scientifically relieves pain. when the body is injured, it releases endorphines, which relieve pain. however, it only releives physical pain, so whatever state of turmoil her mind is in because she doesn't have a boyfriend is completely irrelivent.

No one is ever ugly. I don't even know your sister, but she is beautiful in her own way... I was an overweight teen, glasses and braces, never the best clothes, but the brightest out of the class, you sister isn't ugly, she just needs a self-confidence %26amp; self-esteem boost. Make her over, doll her up, make her feel important.

Cutting herself is not fun.......she's EMO! Dun't let her cut herself, ppl only do tht becuz her brain produces a chemical tht will make her feel better and happier. It's normal for 11 year old. girls to have "boyfriends", it's absolutly normal, by 13 they'd be dating =). Whatever u do though, don't tell her she's ugly, tht'll really destroy all of her self-esteem.
