1.wears thongs (very flashy)

2. can get quite emotional

3. all his friends are female

4. shaves all his body hair

5. sometimes wears eyeliner-- he says it's to get that "rockstar" look

6. is obsessed with his hair (products up the whazoo, dyes it black, cuts it, styles it)

7. has one of those nasally, effeminate voices

and YET....he:

8. has sex regularly with girls

9. has porn with bigboobs/asian females/giving head

10. pumps his penis (not really that it had anything to do with the issue, but still)

11. has an obsession with import cars and working on his car (a somewhat "manly" trait)

12. freaks out anytime anyone questions his sexuality

13. cracks one too many jokes about guys doing eachother in the behind (for example: while he's watching a commercial, he'll joke: "haha that guy wants to do him in the butt.")

.... does this guy seem more gay or straight?

we're all wondering.

oh, and additionally:

8. Since gay or straight depends on who you are sexually attracted to, this one has some merit...

13. Comments on sex, this one has merit too.

and lastly, bdsm... maybe has merit.

Now lets look at the questions with merit, has sex with girls (straight), has porn with girls in it (straight), makes gay jokes (could be considered gay in hiding, but if constantly asked about his sexuality could go either way), and lastly the bdsm with dongs. Both gay guys and straight guys have a prostate that feels good when massaged, could be he is not hung up on having a dong define his sexuality (could also go either way).

My guess is that he is probably straight with a smaller possibility of being bisexual, and would also probably like to not be questioned about his sexuality so much.

Funnily enough being a homosexual man does not mean a man without "manly" traits. Equally a heterosexual man does not have to fit the stereotype of "what it is to be a man".

I think you are over-analyzing this too much, so what? who cares? If this guy is your friend, then be his friend, why does his non-conformity to your playschool book of gender casting have to play a role?

He's definitely gay. Just the fact that he freaks out anytime anyone questions his sexuality strongly suggests this. He's gay, yet he might not know this. If he does know it, he's not ready to accept this yet. Believe me, I know of a guy. He's everything in your list, except for the fact that he's married to a girl. This does not make him any less gay.

To me, it's #8 and #9 versus #12 and #13. You can drop everything else, because it's all irrelevant- those things don't prove you're gay, just that you like to be hairless, hang out with girls, wear buttfloss- whatever. There are 100% straight guys who like to do that stuff, too.

Anytime anyone freaks out when someone questions their sexuality, or feels like they have to be making jokes about gayness, I wonder if they're trying to cover something up.

I cannot help but wonder why you care? Unless you have your sights set on him, why in the world would it matter to you? What he does is his own business (until our wonderful President declares it in violation of homeland security). Sorry to be so blunt, but it would seem that you and your friends have too much time on your hands if you have no more to worry about than some guy's sexuality.

Honestly, this is like asking the question "Boxers or briefs?" I doubt that you can determine someone's sexuality based on a number of pre-selected criteria. I'm not saying that you're wrong in your curiosity, but keep in mind that many of the above traits are common in men of all sexualities. In other words, you're not going to have an answer that is going to be certain.

Except for case #8. That indicates heterosexual tendencies. Whether or not he is bisexual is another question, but since you have no equivalent case for homosexual tendencies, the safe assumption is to not assume them.

In any case, I hope that you don't think of him differently. Whatever his sexuality is, he is first and foremost a human being, and that should be the basis on how interaction with him occurs. Hope that helps.
