How do I lighten my dark hair naturally without having it turn copper-toned?

I have dark Asian hair though mine is generally lighter than other Asians' dark hair and is more brown. Even so, we'll go with the fact that it is simply dark brown-black hair. I want to get my hair to a more brownish tone but I want it to look natural and I don't want chemicals to damage my hair.

I want to lighten my hair NATURALLY, and I've heard of the lemon and chamomile treatments people use in the sun but I've heard the lemon treatment makes hair a reddish tone. Can I lighten my hair without it going to a red/copper-tone (or just a very light one)?

Please ANSWER the questions, not just dismiss them and I'd love if someone gave me an answer giving suggestions based on experience. If I can't get my hair lighter without it going copper-toned, then what is the next best alternative? I'll only use chemicals when I get older but suggestions are welcome.

Thanks and much love!

There is, but I don't advise doing your own hair lighter. If you end up with something you don't like, you will have to pay the big bucks to get it fixed. You can avoid the orange tones by buying a color with a blue/violet base however if you don't know anything about color it will be hard for you to determine which color will make your hair the color you want it to be. At home colors are impossible to define because their color charts are terrible and don't take into consideration the underlying pigments and don't tell you want base they are.

first try the lemon juice and chamomile stuff, it could make your hair go reddish, but if you do it a couple times more, it should turn a lighter shade of brown. after that, if it still isn't what you want, look for a chemical free hair wash at salons or in drugstores, to turn your hair from the lemon-induced red to a light brown.

Even chemicals cand turn your hair a copper tone. First time I tried to lighten my hair, it turned orange :/

The trick, no matter what you use, is to keep applying until you have the right shade.

Put aside a day or two, do the lemon and chammomile tretment several times until you have the desired shade.

You might aslo want to consider the Herbal Essense brand of hair dyes, fairly natural.
